Info For New Members

A little bit about the wonderful world of playing for Bloomfield.

We organise several matches a week against other Clubs (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed) and you are encouraged to make yourself available for as many of these matches as you are able. They are a fantastic way to learn our sport and all standards are catered for – you are never ‘too new’.

Availability sheets for these matches are pinned in the case besides the ladies changing room window – please add your name if you would like to play. The selected teams are then displayed in that same case, on our website and circulated by e-mail to all members. If you are selected to play for Bloomfield the team sheet will indicate whether you are home or away and the dress code.
It will show the start time for a home game (please arrive 20 minutes before the match starts) or the meeting time in the car park for an away game.

For home matches there will be named ‘volunteers’ to help with food preparation, bar duty etc. Everyone takes their turn.
For away matches there will be allocated drivers who will be paid mileage by the club.
A match fee of £4 will be collected on the day and this goes towards the cost of the food or the mileage payments.

And then, on Monday nights during the summer, we run a triples league – open to all members. Names are put in the hat at the start of the season and squads drawn to play in a friendly but competitive atmosphere. Teams take it in turns to cover the bar and kitchen and the Club provides a light supper which is available to purchase at the end of the evening. Those not playing often turn up for a drink, a chat and to offer ‘constructive criticism’ to their team mates.

We pride ourselves on our friendship and hospitality.
