23rd September 2023 Captains Day wraps up the 2023 season
On Saturday 23rd September the annual Captains Day activities provided a very enjoyable way to end the 2023 season, and a good time was had by all. Many thanks to captains Janet and Ross for all their hard work on the day and throughout the season. Enjoy the winter break everyone.
29th August 2023 Congratulations to Steve Paraskeva
Steve has reached the final stages of the inaugural SBA “Men’s beginners” tournament. The semi-final and final will be played at Ilminster bowling club on Sunday September 10th, 2023. Good luck Steve!
28th August 2023 Charity Day in Support of “Siblings United”
On Bank Holiday Monday Bloomfield members got together with family and friends to enjoy a day of bowling and barbeque to raise money for an extremely worthy cause “Siblings United“. In total £1000 was raised and everybody had a fun time. Many thanks to the organisers, helpers and chefs for making it a great day.
25th August 2023 Bloomfield Mixed MSL Team are champions again!
Congratulations to the Mixed MSL Team for topping the Northern Division table for a second year in a row. Well done all, and good luck in the final against Street.
20th August 2023 Bloomfield Hosts the Fear Cup Semi-Final
On Sunday 20th August we hosted the Fear Cup semi-final between Portishead RBL and Purnell, which saw Portishead run out eventual winners. Good luck to them in the final.
Following the event we received a lovely note from Kate Strong (President of Portishead RBL Ladies): –
“Having supported The RBL Poppies this afternoon I’ve just arrived at Leamington and unpacked the wonderful picnic you made. It’s fabulous ! Very many thanks for this AND your lovely friendly welcome to all the visitors. You are five star hosts.“
5th August 2023 Blue is the colour
This weekend Bloomfield members wore blue below the waist for the first time in both Ladies and Mens league matches. Hopefully we’ll soon be able to wave a fond farewell to the whites and greys.
30th July 2023 Hoss Fletcher Trophy
On Sunday 30th July Bloomfield held its annual “Hoss Fletcher Trophy” tournament. This is a 2-wood round-robin tournament followed by a final, in which Jules defeated Kieran. Congratulations to Jules on her victory, and thanks to Ross for organising the event.
25th June 2023 Bloomfield Open Triples Tournament
On Sunday 25th June Bloomfield once again hosted its annual Open Triples Tournament, kindly sponsored by Western Building Consultants. It was a great day and very much enjoyed by those who took part. Many thanks to the organisers, and to the dedicated team of helpers who made the day run so smoothly. This years winners of the £150 top prize were the Bloomfield Vets (no, they’re not veterinarians) who won it for the second year in a row. Well done guys, good luck for the hat-trick next year!
18th June 2023 Bloomfield versus Somerset County Juniors.
On Sunday 18th June Bloomfield hosted a friendly match against the Somerset County Juniors. A good time was had by all, particularly by the juniors it seems as they gave the Bloomfield team a thorough thrashing.
10th December 2022 Christmas Lunch
On Saturday 10th December Bloomfield members enjoyed their Christmas lunch. A very pleasing event and much enjoyed by all.
17th November 2022 Green Maintenance
The close season green maintenance is well underway – today the green has been spiked to aerate the soil and allow water and nutrients down to the grass roots. Hopefully we’ll reap the benefits of all the hard work that is going into the green over the winter when the new season starts next year.
14th September 2022 Lavender and Lace
Congratulations to Bloomfield ladies’ triple Lynn, Brenda and Jules on their triumph
at the “Lavender and Lace” day, held at Chippenham Town Bowls club. Well done ladies.
7th September 2022 Bloomfield Ladies Open Invitation Triples
Bloomfield ladies held their annual Open Invitation Triples tournament on Wednesday 7th September. The weather held out, there was great fun had on the green and a first-class buffet was very well received. Congratulations to the winners from Stothert and Pitt, and also to the runners-up from Frome Park. A great day. Well done to all involved.
29th August 2022 Captains Charity Day
Bloomfield held its annual Captains Charity Day on the August Bank Holiday Monday to raise money for the British Lung Foundation and the Anthony Nolan Trust. It was a fun day of friendly competition followed by a barbeque provided by club members. In total the event was supported by 72 bowlers and guests and raised £1000 for the charities.
